It rained and it poured and it flooded!
Most of the Garden Route was thrown into a state of disarray when the area was struck by an incredible rain storm on Wednesday, 5 May 2021. Sadly, our daycare centre, Die Sterreweg, was not spared. An incredible downpour that measured around 80mm was received over a very brief 30 minute period and followed by intermittent showers through the night. Our staff were overwhelmed this morning when arriving at work.
Enjoying the freedom with our Freedom Walkers
Thanks to a generous donation from the Scribante Group* and the team at Freedom Walkers**, we received these 2 beautiful paediatric walkers this term. Our therapists absolutely love how robust but lightweight this design is. The walker is incredibly easy to turn, can navigate easily around objects and can be adjusted in multiply ways to provide different levels of support. We have enjoyed playing around with these walkers for children
Inathi’s story
Inathi Sobayeni, born on the 20th of April 2009 with no complications – a healthy, bouncing baby boy! With no prior childhood illness or issues, he developed a lung disease at the age of around 3 months. By 6 months of age, he had to have a tracheostomy* to assist with breathing. The hospital told his parents that he would probably not survive – little did they know that Inathi was a fighter, not
March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month – Siphumeze’s Story
Although World Cerebral Palsy* day is celebrated on the 6 October, March is “Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month“. In recognition you may see many people wearing green. Why green? The color was chosen to reflect youthfulness and new growth, as well as hope for advancements in treatment and acceptance. At the age of 4 and unable to walk, young Siphumeze was first referred to the Sabrina Love Foundation by the nursing sister at
Our parents are stars!
A wonderfully well received initiative was started by our staff to encourage our children’s parents to keep on keeping on! Some days we would all just love a little “thank you”. Our “Star Parent Programme” was recently conceptualized and put into place. Shanice, our first star parent is Mikyle’s mom. Mikyle was born with Cerebral Palsy* and is unable to move himself. Shanice works beautifully with Mikyle every day doing
