No amount of pouring rain could dampen the beautiful spirits of those celebrating Casual Day today.
Casual Day is South Africa’s leading fundraising & awareness campaign for persons with disabilities and is the flagship project of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD). Launched in 1995, Casual Day is an awareness and fundraising campaign benefiting persons with disabilities.
Mivuyo who has been diagnosed with Arthrogryposis (a very rare condition which means a child is born with joint contractures. This means some of their joints don’t move much and may even be stuck in 1 position. Often the muscles around these joints are thin, weak, stiff or missing.)
Mivi has been welcomed by the Plettenberg Bay Primary School and yet despite his physical limitations, he is still “one of the boys”. Scholars were asked to bring R5 to school and in exchange, could dress in casual clothes. Proceeds raised were kindly donated toward repairing our Mvuyo’s wheelchair. Thank you so much Plett Primary for this kind gesture!
