Since the last installation of our beautiful therapy room it has become quite evident that we needed an additional space therapy/play room and with the assistance of FNB it soon became a reality.
We had an available unused covered space which was the perfect space to convert. Having a secondary therapy room outside couldn’t have been in a more perfect location that in the magical garden where children feel so at ease and happy. Having it outside is so beneficial for the children especially our little ones diagnosed with some sensory difficulties. They will be able to ‘break’ away from the building and have their own quiet time outside. This will make it less stressful for the child as this room is now associated with an area that they relate to as free.
During poor weather, this area will give the children an additional play space option. At present on rainy days, the children often spend all day inside. With the new additional therapy space, the children who still wish to be outside will be able to utilize this space. Little children need frequent movement and play opportunities to focus and learn. This new therapy/play space will go a long way to provide this for our children.
The new therapy room has been designed to double up as a tuck shop room for the children. For many years, we have had a dream for the children to be able to serve each other and learn functional shopping skills. The drop down side on this new structure will allow the children to operate a tuck shop “selling” healthy snacks. We are so excited to use this environment to teach the children important social and life skills to equip them for life outside the center.
We believe that the new outside therapy and tuck shop room has great potential to enrich the children’s daily life at Die Sterreweg. It will have sensory play benefits of play within a natural outside play area which they all love.
We thank all involved for this wonderful opportunity and the benefits that our children are going to have for years to come. The staff and children of Die Sterreweg are so grateful for the time, efforts and care of the people from FNB who have helped to make this happen.
