What if kindness went viral?
What if we all performed one random act of kindness. One simple act that draws upon a genuine generosity of spirit. One simple act that could result in a smiling face or a brightened day. We believe that this small act can multiply itself into the thousands and start a kindness revolution.
We are hoping to inspire a variety of ideas from courage to creativity to encourage your natural capacity for kindness and wisdom with a simple act of kindness and a Kindness Card left behind. These cards will be passed along from one person to another as they in turn pay-it-forward with what has been universally recognised as ‘random acts of kindness’. Our kindness cards are inspired from Jono Fisher’s ‘Wake Up Project’ in which he aims to create a kinder and wiser world.
So what is a random act of kindness? A random act of kindness can either be spontaneous or pre-meditated, but at its heart is unconditional benevolence and selflessness. Such acts are ‘random’ because they don’t discriminate, whilst the ‘kindness’ resides in there being a complete absence of agenda other than in the desire to deliver a bit of unadulterated compassion to another fellow being.
We say lighten up, laugh, dance and celebrate precious human life.
What exactly is a random act of kindness?
Two and a half thousand years ago The I Ching reasoned that:
“True kindness does not count upon or ask about merit and gratitude but acts from inner necessity.”
A random act of kindness can be anything, big or small, that leaves the recipient with a feeling of warmth and love. We encourage anonymity as a form of freedom when performing a random act of kindness as it makes the intensity of act go so much further. There is a story that goes like this…
One day there was a father sitting in a restaurant with his daughter and they overheard a young couple chatting as they sat in a booth by the window. They couldn’t help but feel touched as the couple discussed how they had saved for 2 months in order to be able to afford their 1 year anniversary dinner together. The father called the waitron over and indicated that he would like to pay for the young couple’s bill on one condition – that the waitron was not to tell the couple who had paid, and instead of a bill place a small card in the bill folder. They then sat back and watched as the waitron took the young couple the bill folder and indicated their bill had been paid anonymously. The young couple were shocked and they cried and hugged with happiness at their good fortune. The young husband opened the bill folder that had been placed at their table and his eyes lit up as he lifted a small card and on it was written:
“You have just been touched by a random act of kindness. Be inspired and use this card to perform a similar act of kindness. Pay it forward.”
We hope that you are lucky enough to be handed a Sabrina Love Kindness card sometime soon. If you are…
Be inspired.
