A wonderfully well received initiative was started by our staff to encourage our children’s parents to keep on keeping on! Some days we would all just love a little “thank you”.
Our “Star Parent Programme” was recently conceptualized and put into place.

Shanice, our first star parent is Mikyle’s mom. Mikyle was born with Cerebral Palsy* and is unable to move himself. Shanice works beautifully with Mikyle every day doing stimulation activities and therapy programs. We love seeing videos of Shanice singing to Mikyle and positioning him with items at home. Shanice never misses Mikyle’s appointments and asks the Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physiotherapist when she needs assistance.

Sinegugu’s mom, Zolakazi is our second. Zolakazi was awarded this because of the enormous active interest she takes an in Sinegugu’s development and does all his therapy home programs. She also ensures that he attends all of his appointments and communicates well with her field worker and OT.
Sinegugu, also born with Cerebral Palsy*, is making great progress towards reaching his goals.

*Cerebral palsy (CP) refers to a group of disorders that affect muscle movement and coordination. In many cases, vision, hearing, and sensation are also affected. The word “cerebral” means having to do with the brain. The word “palsy” means weakness or problems with body movement. (Source https://www.healthline.com/health/cerebral-palsy)
