Our children have been making the most of the the beautiful warm, winter days. Nothing better than spending some time playing and learning outdoors. Under the guidance and supervision of the wonderful staff and Heidi, our occupational therapist, the children at Die Sterreweg have been digging in and enjoying the benefits of outdoor play.
Not only is it fun to be outside, but also allows the children to learn during play. Gardening is a healthy, fun activity for children and helps them with their sensory development as they feel different textures – soil, seeds, flowers, wood, and petals. They also get to smell all the amazing flower scents and see all the colourful petals & leaves.
We’re hoping that by encouraging our children to grow their own vegetables, they will gain interest in eating them too ( the ultimate secret to help them like vegetables!) – a parents’ dream!
While some were enjoying getting their hands dirty, others opted for some time on our beautiful new outdoor swing and engaging in some play with lovely Lillian. Outside, really is the best side!
