Charne our physical therapist (physio) at Die Sterreweg has been very busy working with children at our Sabrina Love day care therapy centre. Working with differently able children, therapists have to constantly adapt various therapy processes to accommodate different degrees of functionality of each individual child.
Charne has (re)started the Physifun* program with the children at Die Sterreweg.
“Physifun is a concept that encourages movement, strengthening and mindfulness for children. It provides educators with tools they need to stimulate the development of emotional, social, physical, regulation and cognitive skills in the classroom and during play. Physifun helps them to manage children who have behavioral and attention difficulties, as well as gross and fine motor difficulties.”
Charne has been focussing on core stability and balance. Children sitting on the medicine balls while doing arm and leg movements, bouncing and “dancing” to music.

Beanbags are also used for children to collect at a certain point and take it to the starting point – this is done by either walking on their knees, hopping or crawling – depending on their functional ability.
The current focus is on improving core stability and balance in order to to do gross motor skills such as jumping and hopping.
It is always so much learning and growing through movement! Thank you Physifun!
