Description
Ever since I started cycling just over 10 yrs ago I started hearing magical tales about the race above all races, the race called the Cape Epic. Tales about the human spirit of never giving up, one of the most extreme tests physically but even more so mentally; the ultimate test of man and machine. After initially seeming like a totally impossible dream for a weekend warrior like myself, the dream is about to become reality.
I have decided to make it more than just a personal challenge and conquest by making it a ride for a worthy cause. The story of this brave little girl called Sabrina really touched my heart, and and what her parents have set out to do all those years ago has become the incredible organisation we now know as the Sabrina Love Foundation. In the same way that my mountain bike wheels have taken me over previously inaccessible terrain and opened up a whole new world out there, I am hoping to provide wheels to children with special needs, and open up their small worlds!
During the most brutal Cape Epic ever, we will be climbing 16 650 vertical meters in 8 days! To put that into perspective, it is the equivalent of climbing:
- Table Mountain 16 times
- Kilimanjaro 3 times or
- Everest twice!
With your help, my aim is to raise R10 for every vertical meter climbed!! GAME ON!
