Sabrina Love Foundation was started by Suzy and Tony Lubner in 2003 in the loving memory of their daughter Sabrina.
The Foundation provides a holistic management plan for the children with special needs including professional care and medical assistance, daily caregivers in the home or in schools, parental education and support groups, financial assistance to parents, transport to medical facilities around the country and networking with relevant medical and educational facilities.
Sabrina was a darling precious child born with a very rare bone disorder, which affected her physical being, but not her wonderful mind. She showed the world around her how to integrate into a community and extend the boundaries of what is considered normal. She drove her wheelchair in ballet classes all dressed in pink, and participated in all that life had to offer, with nothing but love, patience, bravery, compassion, humility and a zest that few able bodied people have. She was an inspiration to everyone who met her during the six short years of her life.
Sabrina underwent numerous heartbreaking corrective surgery operations on her feet, knees and hips in the hope that she may walk one day. Followed by hours and hours of physio and therapy Sabrina learned to make the most of what she had and worked her body in a unique way to give her independence.
Sabrina
As Sabrina got older, she had respiratory complications, and it was the pneumoniaβs that were the most terrifying times for her. She would often end up in ICU on a ventilator for weeks fighting for her life. She was cared for by all the best medical equipment and the sisters and doctors who worked tirelessly around the clock saving so many lives. Often, in those long quiet desperate hours of the night, we thanked G-d for being able to give Sabrina the care and special equipment that she needed to help her live her life.
After her passing it became Sabrinaβs parents wish to try and help other parents lacking in financial aid and accessibility to medical care and who were not as fortunate, also facing these challenges of giving their special children everything that they needed to live as normal and as comfortable a life as possible. in some cases, this was as simple as the need of a wheelchair, something so out of reach for some, and yet a tool that could set these children free.
Through the Sabrina Love Foundation we set out to assist 100% of those children in the Plettenberg Bay region and teach others what a difference we can make to a child, a family and an entire community.
