This last Saturday was our Sabrina Love Christmas party hosted by Spur at the Milkwood Centre on Central Beach. We had spent the past few months planning for all our Sabrina Love, Sterreweg, Elson Unit children from Formosa Primary with Leigh Dunn and 36 children from the Coldstream Creshe to be all be together to celebrate with Father Christmas.
The whole one side of Spur was set aside for everyone with the beautifully wrapped and labelled presents piled high. This year we had sent out profiles and stories on each of the children to Oakhill School led by Michaela Cross, Plett Primary, Knysna Hospital led by Laurel Giddy and the Jewish Women’s League for the collection of Sabrina and Sterreweg Christmas Love boxes. The response was just amazing! Kirsten and Maxine, Yvette Wilschutt, Su Lubner, Alison Bryant, Gayle and Dave, all helped in this huge task and presents flowed in oozing with love. What a privilege to receive them all and an honor to have our community rally together and spoil our children as you did. Thank you to you all so much who contributed.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious Spur meal. The waiters were absolutely fantastic caring for the children like princes and princesses. It was wonderful to see the feast being relished by each little person , some for the first time ever in a restaurant! To top the joy, Hylton quietly came up to me to let me know that Spur was going to do the “tab” as his donation to Sabrina Love. I could not believe my ears as the reality of that huge gift to the celebration was received with such gratitude. Thank you Spur, Hylton and all your amazing staff.
Tigger sang Sabrina’s song with the parents, teachers and children all in tow clapping with love, until Father Christmas arrived. What a great job in the heat he had in his warm suit to hand out all the gifts with the help of Gabriella and Matthew. Two gifts each as shrieks of joy rang out as named gifts were drawn by Chris.
It was a truly happy day. We send our thanks to everyone for this shared journey of giving such Christmas joy. Happy little faces shine in my heart and through this collective giving we have been able to once again end the year with a beautiful party to all be together to spoil and make the difference to the lives of these families.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge on December 28 and 29 and wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a 2013 blessed with LOVE, health and only goodness.
